Terry has spent more than 30 years in the sports industry, with executive experience in sponsorship sales, sports marketing, event management, licensed apparel, broadcast and sports tourism. Terry has spent more than 30 years in the sports industry, with executive experience in sponsorship sales, sports marketing, event management, licensed apparel, broadcast and sports tourism. He has spent time in advertising and sponsorship sales, brand marketing, ticket operations, business development, event attraction, event management and broadcast operations.
This experience came from working for organizations such as the BIG EAST Conference, the University of Kentucky, HOST Communications, Morehead State University, the Kentucky Sports Authority, the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, the Bluegrass Sports Commission and Lexington Christian Academy.
Terry has worked on events large and small. Large events such as, Big East and SEC Championships, NCAA basketball tournaments, the 2006 & 2008 Ryder Cup Competitions and the 2010 World Equestrian Games.
He has also managed many local and regional sporting events, such as the Bluegrass State Games, the Dew Action Sports tour, the Kentucky/Indiana High School Basketball Classic and numerous high school events.
This diversified background directed him to a love for people, creating opportunities and leaving things better than he found them.
Johnson founded DonBar Ventures, LLC in 2023 to use his experience, relationships and passion for the sports industry to assist organizations, sponsors and communities to maximize revenue, impact and efficiency.

Specifically, Gary has immense experience in the areas of entertainment consulting, sponsorship development and sales, mass retail promotions, grocery promotional distribution, automotive aftermarket, and national sponsorship procurement and management.
Through a network of partnerships, Gary developed projects, including a major country music festival, a pilot TV show in the United States, Charitable Foundation work for several high-profile entertainment personalities and two National Music Tours.
His career path has also taken him into the public safety sector, where he is responsible for the contractual execution and compliance of internal and external government and commercial projects for over 6,000 law enforcement officers and 15 State and Federal agencies.
